Annual Plymouth Wharf BBQ – 2nd November

If you were wondering what happened to the annual PWRA Summer BBQ this year, don’t worry you haven’t missed it. Unfortunately, our organising committee couldn’t find a suitable date in the summer so we will be having a Winter BBQ instead. It might be a bit colder but as a consolation we will be having some fireworks to go along with it.

To keep things easier PWRA will only be supplying the BBQ, charcoal and fireworks so please bring food and drink (we will provide plates, sauces and some buns).

Gate fobs and intercom phone connection (updated)

Note: This article was updated June 2020 to reflect removal of previous restriction that only UK landline telephone numbers could be connected to the gate intercom and that mobiles can now also be used.

We have had a number of recent enquiries from residents regarding how to use the main gate or obtain replacement fobs.

Fobs

There are two different types of fobs that can be used to open the main vehicle and pedestrian gates: touch fobs and remote fobs.

The touch fobs do not require batteries and can be used to open both the pedestrian and vehicle gates by simply touching them on the appropriate panel.

The remote fobs require batteries and can only be used to open the vehicle gate. There are different types of remote fobs. If you are having problems with your remote fob not working, we suggest you first check and replace your batteries.

Replacement fobs can be obtained by emailing directors@plymouthwharf.com and making a payment to the PWRA bank account of £5 for remote fobs and £15 for touch fobs using FOBS and your property number as reference

Unfortunately, for security reasons we can only issues fobs to property owners. If you are a tenant please contact your landlord or managing agent.

Gate intercom

The main gate intercom works differently to that at the flat block doors and requires connection to a telephone number (UK mobile or landline). Once set up, when your property number is selected on the main gate, your telephone will ring and you can use buttons 0 and 1 on your phone keypad to open either the vehicle or pedestrian gate respectively.

To connect your telephone to the gate requires emailing directors@plymouthwharf.com and making a payment to the PWRA bank account listed below of £28.80 with reference GATE and your property number. The setup process typically takes 3-5 days once payment is confirmed.

Plymouth Wharf Residents Association Ltd

Sort code: 20-26-46

Account number: 70744166

This charge is payable to the company that maintain and setup the intercom system for us and so if you change your telephone number then you will need to pay again. We are now able to support any UK numbers (excluding premium rate) but unfortunately not non-UK numbers.

Unfortunately, for security reasons if you are a tenant rather than a property owner we will need confirmation from your landlord or managing agent before we can action the change.

From Plymouth Wharf: turn left out of the rear gate and walk along the river walkway. Compass Point community room is the building overhanging the walkway. Alternatively head right out of the main gate and take the first right, walking to the riverside.

Enderby Wharf cruise terminal plans cancelled

Plans for a cruise terminal to be built across the river from Plymouth Wharf in Greenwich have finally been cancelled after several years of campaigning by the local community over fears of noise and pollution.

This will come as a relief to a number of residents that were not happy with the plans. It is not yet known what the fate of the Enderby Wharf site will be now but it’s thought that the site of the cruise terminal may now be replaced with a park with possible concessions made to developers in terms of height on residential development planned.

Morden Wharf regeneration exhibition

In March 2012, U+I acquired Morden Wharf, a former sweeteners refinery on the Greenwich Peninsula and one of the few remaining significant London riverfronts left for major regeneration.

The major riverside regeneration site is adjacent to the O2 Arena and opposite Plymouth Wharf on the other side of the river, with 500 metres of Thames riverside frontage.

For those interested, the developer of Morden Wharf will be holding an exhibition for local residents:
– Wednesday 21 November between 4pm and 8pm at Rothbury Hall, Mauritius Road, SE10 0EF
– Saturday 24 November between 12pm and 5pm at Sherard Hall, Forum at Greenwich, Trafalgar Road, SE10 9EQ

More information on Morden Wharf can be found here:

Tree Pruning

The trees on the estate are being pruned this week starting with the tall trees in the central bed.

We will start at the roadside end and so on 15th/16th please do not park cars by  the central bed outside house numbers 48- 52 and 11- 15 to avoid any  damage to cars. Instead residents and visitors can park at each end of the estate. On the 17th and 18th please do not park by the other end of the central bed at the river end outside house numbers 44-47 and 16 – 19.

Cars will be on house forecourts do not need to be moved for tree cutting.

Unfortunately there is some overlap with the jetwashing as they are coming back to sand the areas that were washed so these areas need to be avoided at times as well.

We apologise for the inconvenience and overlap of the two jobs but we had great difficulty finding times when contractors were available.

Carol and Lis from the board are coordinating and  will do their best to help with the car parking situation.  Any problems or difficulties please email carol.sinker@plymouthwharf.com or  elisabeth.thornton@plymouthwharf.com

Fire Action Plan

If you discover a fire in your home:

  1. Leave your flat immediately closing all doors behind you taking all flat occupants with you
  2. Call the fire service
  3. Greet the fire crew as they arrive and give details of the fire location

If you see or hear a fire elsewhere in the development, general advice is:

  1. The building is designed to contain a fire where it starts. This means it will usually be safe to stay in your flat if the fire is elsewhere
  2. Leave your flat at once if smoke or heat affects your flat, taking all flat occupants with you, or if you are told by the fire service. If in doubt, get out

If you are in a communal area then leave the building at once by the nearest exit.

Do not:

  1. Wait to collect personal belongings
  2. Take risks
  3. Run

To call the Fire Brigade:

Dial 999 or 112

When the operator answers give your telephone number and ask for fire. When the fire service reply give the address where the fire is:

Plymouth Wharf, London, E14 3EL

Do not end the call until the fire service has repeated the address correctly.

A copy of this Fire Action Plan  for you to print out and display in your property can be found on the link below

Reporting antisocial behaviour

We have been asked a number of times by residents about reporting antisocial behaviour. Any instances should be addressed to the Police in the first instance.  The Metropolitan Police have recently provide guidance on this matter, including providing a new tool to report instances online:

https://www.met.police.uk/ro/report/asb/asb/report-antisocial-behaviour/

Where antisocial behaviour relates to a property within Plymouth Wharf, we do ask that residents keep us informed by emailing directors@plymouthwharf.com

Proper disposal of rubbish in communal bin cupboards

We kindly ask that all tenants use heavy duty black bags for refuse, this will help reduce smell (all bin stores are experiencing this particularly in the recent hot weather), bags splitting open etc.

We notice lots of small plastic bags are being used to dispose of refuse on sites. Using proper refuse bags will help reduce smell in communal areas that are close to bin stores as well as help reduce flies and vermin.

These can be obtained from all supermarkets or online from Amazon:
